Vegas Has No Love for the Cats
By Brinson | May 13, 2008
The Panthers are not huge favorites to win a ton of games this year, at least at Sportsbook. Which is surprising. Now certainly, 8 wins would be .500 and that’s the slightly favored spot — notice the less than even money you’re getting for taking the over. In fact, it may just be that SB is trying to entice some bets on the Panthers under, which, if you assume no Delhomme health, isn’t that bad of a bet at +115.
Until you realize they play in the NFC South, they have a new running back, a revamped offensive line and a slew of “new” wide receivers. I’m not saying we’re the favorite to win the division (uh, but we should be), although I think 7.5 is probably a little low. Although, in fairness, it is early, and a lot of these bets are predicated on drawing in public money. So we’ll just pretend we’re not insulted and go out and hang 12-4 on Vegas.
