Dwayne Jarrett Pleads Guilty to DWI
By Brinson | June 23, 2008
Pleading guilty is usually a bad thing. Except when you’re famous and, you know, caught. Which would be the case with Dwayne Jarrett, who blew a .12 earlier this year in Mint Hill near Charlotte. And now, Jarrett has pleaded guilty to DUI and will get off ridiculously lightly.
Jarrett surrendered his driver’s license and was ordered to pay $420 in court costs and perform 24 hours of community service after appearing in Mecklenburg County District Court.
Jarrett will enter the first stage of the NFL’s substance abuse program, meaning he will be subject to more frequent tests for drugs and alcohol.
Party’s over, brah. And I take that back … such a punishment isn’t “ridiculously lightly”, unless they’re giving him his license right back. Of course, when you lose your DL, it always helps to have enough money/mooching friends to hire a driver/make them drive.
Also, will athletes please, please, please stop getting in trouble for driving while drunk? You’re filthy rich. Purchase a stretch Hummer. Hire a driver. Pay me 50 grr a year to drive you around. Whatever. It’s fairly inexcusable when normal people get DUIs, but rich athletes? Come on.
