Hurney Doesn’t Know About This Favre Bidness or These ‘Internet Rumors’
By Brinson | July 5, 2008
It’s always funny to see both mainstream media people and higher ups in athletics dismiss crazy ideas that stem from the internet (read: blogs). Many times, these rumors have no legs. But a lot of times, these rumors are decently surmised theories or stem from actual insider information. No real clue on which one this Favre to the Panthers deal falls under (although that shouldn’t stop you from wagering on where you think he’ll end up.) Of course, neither does Marty Hurney, apparently.
“I don’t know where these things come from,” Hurney said of an Internet report earlier this week about agent Bus Cook saying Favre, who retired from the Green Bay Packers three months ago, has decided he already wants to return to the game, specifically with Carolina.
Hurney declined any further comment.
Not that Hurney would comment, even if he knew something. And obviously, if there’s a chance that Favre could end up in the Cackalack, then he knows something. (We hope.) Personally, I don’t see him coming to Charlotte; it’s too much of a s-storm to throw on top of Jake Delhomme, who will in fact lead us to the promised land if he’s healthy.
