Updated Vegas Numbers for the Cats

    By Brinson | September 18, 2008

The folks at BoDog are kind enough to keep me on a mailing list for their player props, which is particularly nice when it involves Panther players. Not because I actually like to bet, but mainly because I enjoy seeing what Vegas thinks about our team. Anywho, there are a few of interest to me.

Which rookie Running back will have the most rushing yards in the 2008 NFL season?

    Matt Forte 2/1
    Chris Johnson 9/4
    Darren McFadden 2/1
    Jonathan Stewart 4/1

Makes sense. Forte and McFadden have starting jobs and Stewart and Johnson are at least somewhat involved in timeshares. I wouldn’t touch it personally. This one, on the other hand:

How many receiving yards will Steve Smith have in week 3 of the 2008 NFL season?

    Over 70½
    (-115)o
    (-115)u

That’s right. Vegas doesn’t think Steve Smith will have more than 71 yards this week against a Minnesota team that will practically force us to pass. I will be loading on the over, please.

And he ends with 70 on the dot.

Isn’t that just fucking amazing? Vegas never ceases to amaze me.

As Duck (my Dad) always taught me … “if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.”
