No One Left To Run With Anymore
By Brinson | November 6, 2007
Ahhh. Cheesy Allman Brothers headlines. Feels just as good as realizing that we have to turn to testing out Drew Olsen, the former UCLA quarterback who went undrafted and has remained unsigned, despite some time across the pond. Well, we haven’t signed him yet, but we did give him a run at the practice squad and apparently flew him in last night for a physical. Where’s Charlie Frye when you need him, right? Seriously though, Olsen has a legit shot at making some noise for the ‘Cats. Vinny and Mittens might be no go’s this week with Achilles and concussion injuries, respectively, and it’s quite apparent that Fox doesn’t trust Moore to run the offense (although we could probably be a lot more forgiving about that interception in the fourth against the Titans - at least he was putting the ball downfield).
Olsen has the usual pedigree type stuff you look for in a free agent quarterback - decent arm, great leadership skills, proven winner, blahblahblah. None of that really matters all that much. We just need someone who won’t totally F this up, m’kay? There’s a freebie on the platter against the Falcons and we absolutely have to take advantage. On the bright side of things, it should be noted Olsen has already been cut from the Baltimore Ravens squad, which, in our mind, immediately makes him a candidate to win MVP. That Brian Billick is one heckuva an offensive guru!
