John Fox Knows Our Emotions
By Brinson | December 3, 2007
We really do struggle with the irrationality of wanting to forgive David Carr for any on field misgivings. Why should we like this guy? He wears mittens. He twirls his hair on the sidelines. His completion percentage this season is 53.7 percent. He has thrown three touchdowns and five interceptions. He is averaging 4.7 yards per pass.
Yet, we can’t help but want him to succeed. We love Vinny, and we obviously want Jake back next season, but for some reason, we can’t quit hoping that maybe Mittens will one day stop sucking. And maybe we’re not alone. John Fox addressed the media Monday with some quasi-shocking news:
“I don’t know that I wanted to expose him to here at home, definitely yesterday and we’ll kind of weigh that as we move forward,” Fox said. “Anytime you don’t have success, it has an effect on you mentally. I still have confidence in David Carr. I still think he has good things to offer. I don’t think it’s gone as well for him or for us as we’d all expected. That doesn’t mean to say that it won’t moving forward either.”
Wha-Wha-Whaaaaaaat? So you’re telling us there’s a chance? You’re saying that you’re not opposed to Mittens playing again in the future (assuming it’s on the road it would seem)? We are flabbergasted. But you know what? As soon as the playoffs are officially out of the question, we totally back it.
