Annnnnd Everybody Breathe
By Brinson | January 8, 2008
John Fox and Marty Hurney ain’t going nowhere no time soon. (Mmmm. Triple negative.) Hurney announced today that he was locked into his position as general manager and that Foxy was safe as well - at least for the 2008 season. This comes on the heels of “an out-of-town meeting with Mr. Richardson Thursday and Friday in which we reviewed the season in detail,” Hurney said Monday.
Well, yippee freaking skippee. It’s great news, iohmo, that Fox is staying. We’re not so confident about Hurney but that’s what happens when you continue to retain Dan Morgan and DeShaun Foster. There should be some changes coming down the pipe at the very least, and we certainly need them. Do we need to blow up the team and start over from scratch? Not quite yet. If the Colts lose Peyton or the Packers lose Favre, there are plenty of questions in Indy and Green Bay this season and this off season as well. Delhomme’s not in the same caliber as either of those two guys per say, but you get the point - every team needs its starting quarterback to really compete in this league.
At this point though, we’re willing to totally back Hurney if it means a focused off-season and a solid draft. Let’s just make sure that we a) take a flier on a quarterback late in the draft, b) continue to draft the best talent available, c) focus on defense and d) sign David Carr to a monster extension. What? This blog needs lifeblood. You can always buy t-shirts instead.
