Mister Mittens Has Been Cut
By Brinson | February 27, 2008

In a day more full of mourning than the passing of Barbaro, David Carr has been cut from the Carolina Panthers. There are so many questions. And actually even more answers, oddly enough.
Will this blog live on? Eff and yes. There are like five (okay, two) blogs dedicated to Wayne Fontes.
Where did the blog go for those few weeks there? Mittens + blood pressure = bad blogging.
Was this signing good in the first place? In hindsight, of course not. But at the time, it was hard to argue about the upside of Carr’s backup capabilities.
Was cutting him the right move? Obviously. He would have been like a two million dollar hit on the cap space, in addition to paying him a one million dollar roster bonus. And he’s clearly not cut out for life as any sort of athlete. Or anything less than a hair product model.
Is Mittens the worst number one overall pick in the history of the NFL? Quite possibly. We’ll be discussing this in more detail at Brahsome manana. And eventually here.
Is Mittens the worst quarterback in the history of the NFL? Again, quite possibly.
Did he really never get new license plates for his burnt orange Hummer? That’s correct. They still were Texas plates. And shouldn’t you be asking about the fact that he drives a burnt orange Hummer in the first place? (Yes. You should.)
What does the future hold for quarterbacks in the draft? Well, likely nothing more than a late round flier. We still have Delhomme, Moore and Basanez.
Again, tons of answers. It was obvious. We knew it was coming. Blog ain’t dead. And more in a more telling than anything else display, the Observer just put Mittens’ obit well below the fold, choosing instead to focus on the return of Moose for the first 12 paragraphs.

as a diehard texans fan from day one, i had hope after the first season… in the second game of the second season, a wise texans fan told me carr would never be anything in this league, but i still had hope…
after 2005, i had seen the light. besides being one of the worst qbs ever, he was already fubar’d. a lot of people didn’t believe me and probably still don’t, but at least i got panthers fans on my side now… that’s something i’m sure of.
i’ve got a strange feeling the raiders might go after him, but that’s only because al davis is senile. if this doesn’t knock him out of the league for good, i’ll be surprised.
