Hoover Talks About Post Blowout Loss Criticism
By Brinson | October 16, 2008
No one likes to get criticized. Hell, I even hate the constructive kind. And apparently, so does Brad Hoover. As MDS noted in his FanHouse power rankings, Brad Hoover was not too thrilled about having to go into the film room following Sunday’s 27-3 drubbing at the hands of the Buccaneers.
I wouldn’t say you dread it, but you don’t look forward to it, that’s for sure,” said longtime fullback Brad Hoover. “You pretty much know it’s going to be a miserable day. But ultimately you are responsible for your actions, so have to be accountable to yourself and your teammates.”
“The biggest thing is you have to take a step back, look at yourself and not take criticism to a point where you get angry with it,’ Hoover said. “We’re trying to win football games and learn from these mistakes and move on and win. You have to be a man to do that.”
And, um, yeah. Or no. Also to the point that MDS was trying to make is the fact that when you get whipped that badly in a public setting, you should be teed up, cheesed off, etc., when the coaches start calling people out.
Because, Hoov, if you’re not upset about the loss, then a) you’re not really that focused on winning and b) you’re not representing Davidson County very well. I kid a little bit — obviously Hoover is fully devoted to winning, but yeah, I think he should be angry.
